Malignancies derived from mature (post-thymic) T cells and NK cells, collectively referred to as peripheral T-cell lymphomas (PTCLs), are a heterogeneous group of diseases, altogether accounting for about 10-15% of all non-Hodgkin lymphomas in most western countries, with a great geographic variation. Irrespective of their pathobiological heterogeneity, PTCLs are, with few exceptions, aggressive diseases with poor prognosis.
